Glycerin
Vegetable glycerin
Glycerin's moisturizing action works on two levels. First, it retains water in the tissues, thus slowing down insensible water loss and improving the skin's hydration level. In addition, glycerol also has an occlusive action. It forms a hydrolipidic film on the surface of the epidermis, a sort of protective barrier, which again limits water "leakage" and moisture loss. Glycerol plays the role of the lipids naturally contained in the epidermis when these are defective.
Our vegetable glycerin is obtained from karanja vegetable oil. It is a tree of the fabaceae family, native to Asia, it is particularly present in India.
